Ashley Griffiths BSc (Hons), Managing Director

Ashley has worked in the construction industry for 18 years, initially as a Building Surveyor for a leading construction consultant, before moving into specialist contracting and becoming the Managing Director of one of the country’s largest asbestos abatement contractors.


Having studied Building Surveying at the University of Greenwich Ashley recalls that he first read about asbestos in the early 1990’s. A couple of years later Ashley was the clients representative on an asbestos removal project in a crown court in London. Within 12 months Ashley had moved from the client side of the fence to the contracting side with a leading London based Environmental Services Group. Following a period of ‘hands on’ training Ashley’s career in the Asbestos Abatement Industry started as a Project Manager.


Having risen through the ranks from Project Manager to Contracts Manager and then on to Operations Manager and after 7 years Ashley moved to one of the industries largest companies. Starting as a Regional Manager and then progressing through the role of Associate Director to Director Ashley was eventually made Managing Director. Ashley has an extensive knowledge of asbestos removal having been involved in some of the largest schemes in the country in a wide variety of environments.


Ashley is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of Deconstruct Asbestos Removal and takes a very active role in all areas of the business.


Marc Smith CMIOSH MIIRSM, SHEQ Director 

Marc has been practising as a safety practitioner within the construction industry for over 12 years. Having held senior positions in both Main Contracting and specialist sub-contracting businesses, he joined Deconstruct as the Director responsible for SHEQ.



Whilst all safety professionals have a basic understanding of the principals that underpin the safe management and removal of asbestos Marc has a specialist interest in asbestos and chose to join one of the Country’s largest asbestos and environmental remediation specialist contractors to further develop this specialist knowledge.


During his time with this business he became an industry recognised figure for developing best practice and introduced several innovative processes in to the industry as a whole.



Having held the position of Safety Director within his previous company he has had the opportunity to provide ‘hands on’ management within a multitude of sectors and environments which have included but not limited to Construction, Health, Retail, Local Authorities, MOD, aerospace and manufacturing.


Marc’s thorough understanding of the underpinning legislative requirements that surrounds the management and removal of asbestos coupled with an innovative approach puts you in the hands of a fully qualified and Chartered Safety Practitioner with a enviable and trusted track record of delivering safe solutions to all asbestos related projects.


Marc has the daily responsibility for ensuring that our clients are provided with a safe, solid and reliable service that has their needs and requirements considered at all stages of the project.



Richard Gallimore, Asbestos Manager

Richard has been working in the asbestos industry for over 28 years, he first joined the asbestos industry in the 80's   He has worked at all levels within the industry, starting as an asbestos removal operative and over the years has worked his way through to a senior supervisor and then on to management within the industry. His experience covers a wide array of public and private sector projects.  Public sector coverage includes hospitals, prisons, universities and numerous schools.  Private sector projects encompass laboratories, general and specialist industrial developments and housing.


His previous roles over the years have been working within some of the largest asbestos removal companies in the country which included responsibilities for ensuring the smooth running of large and small contracts as a Projects Manager where he also managed labour resources, material management and liaising with all associated parties from beginning to end of projects.  He has specialist skills in the following areas: asbestos abatement and removal projects; working in sensitive buildings; projects involving reinstatement elements; co-ordinating various trades within exacting programme constraints.  Richard takes pride in his work and ensures the smooth running of all contracts which are carried out to the highest standards.  Richard has responsibility for managing and overseeing the asbestos team at Deconstruct UK which he joined in 2010.



Clive Cherrie, Senior Supervisor

Clive started working in the asbestos industry in 1999. Over the past 12 years Clive has worked in a wide range of environments including Westminster Abbey, St Clements Hospital, a wide variety of Supermarkets and Retail Outlets, Police Stations and High Street Banks branches. Clive spent many years working on the Governments Decent Homes programme in Central London, particularly within Westminster where his duties extended to Tenant Liaison, Contracts Management and Estimating.


Clive is also an A1 Training Assessor, RTITB Instructor and Qualified First Aider.



Darren Elliott, Senior Supervisor

Darren has worked in the asbestos industry for 9 years. Working on a multitude of sites over the years Darren was a Supervisor on the large Shell Tower refurbishment scheme that involved the extensive removal of sprayed asbestos and was also a Supervisor on the HMS Belfast upgrade scheme. Darren has worked on many residential schemes and with the added skill that he is a proficient carpenter, Darren’s capability extends to reinstatement following removal.



Lee Adams, Senior Supervisor

Lee’s employment in the asbestos industry started in 1993. Over the last 18 years Lee has worked on hundreds of different sites including Buckingham Palace, The Tower of London, The Stock Exchange, The Bank of England and Canterbury University to name but a few. Lee is extremely knowledgeable and competent and is Supervisory skills have been key to the successful removal of asbestos from many schools.
